Attention County Clerks:
Use of New Forms is Now Required
New County Clerk Handbooks and CERF Enrollment
Packets have been sent out to each County Clerk Office. These new
materials will be helpful in processing CERF forms and explaining the
CERF program to new employees.
Please note that new CERF forms have been included in
the County Clerk Handbooks and are also
available on this Web site. All new forms have "Version 5.1"
(or higher) printed
in the upper right corner. Effective January 1, 2006, these are the only
forms that will be accepted by the CERF Administrative Office.

Have you
changed marital status?
If your marital status changes from married to single,
you should contact your County Clerk to complete a
Form 4:
Change of Information.

Keep your
beneficiary designations up-to-date!
If you are single and have
several years of service, you should complete a
Form 8: Beneficiary Designation-Single Vested Death
Benefit. This form allows you to
designate a beneficiary to receive a refund of your
contributions should you die after reaching vested
status. These benefits are in addition to the
$10,000 death benefit payable to your named beneficiary(ies).
You should complete a
Form 1A:
Beneficiary Designation-$10,000 Death Benefit to
designate a beneficiary to receive the $10,000 death
benefit should you die while actively employed with the
county. |

2007 Match Announced
CERF’s Board of Directors announced at its June
meeting that the full Savings Plan match allowed by law is being offered
again this year. CERF will match funds deposited* into the 457
portion of the Savings Plan for the year 2007 as follows:
Non-LAGERS Members:
50¢ on the dollar, up to the first 6% of pay
LAGERS Members: 25¢ on the dollar, up to the first 6% of pay
To be eligible to receive the matching
contributions from CERF, you must earn at least 1,000 hours during the
calendar year or die while employed by the county. The match amount
will be added to eligible accounts during the first quarter of 2008.
You can enroll in the CERF Savings Plan at any time.
*The matching contribution will
not be applied to money transferred from a previous deferred
compensation plan. |

Reminders...

Contact one
of the CERF Benefits Specialists to
request a benefit estimate by phone or e-mail. Your benefit
estimate will be mailed to your address on file at the CERF
Administrative Office.

Until final salary, hours
and contributions information
through termination date is received from the County Clerk on an
employee ready to retire, the CERF Administrative Office cannot commence
retirement benefits. However, benefits will be paid retroactively to the
day the retiree is entitled.
